Cumberland Care Facility Fined After Resident Injured

Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup has been fined after a resident of the facility was injured in a fall.

The 54-bed skilled care facility was fined $25,000 for failure to supervise a resident, resulting in a fall.

The Illinois Department of Public Health found that the resident was placed on the toilet. The attendant left the immediate area to change gloves and the resident fell, resulting in injuries to the resident.

The resident incurred a brain bleed and other injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
