Chamber Foundation Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Chamber Foundation of Effingham County recognized the recipients of the 2019 Chamber Foundation Community Scholarships at the Annual Scholarship Sponsor and Recipient Luncheon. The Foundation awarded 14 scholarships for both adults and graduating high school seniors.
 
10 students were awarded Exclusive Scholarships awarded by area businesses. The recipients of the J & J Ventures Gaming LLC Exclusive Scholarships are Mikaela Haarman of Newton High School, Claire Niebrugge of Effingham, Alex Haarmann of Teutopolis, Lee Hardiek of Teutopolis, Marianna Hemmen of Teutopolis and Chanel Pals of Teutopolis. Haarman plans to attend Eastern Illinois University studying Pre-Dental; Niebrugge is attending Missouri State University studying Communication, with an emphasis in Journalism and Marketing; Haarmann attends Eastern Illinois University with a curriculum of Pre-Dental; Hardiek is attending Lincoln Land Community College studying Pre-Engineering; Hemmen attends University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science; Pals is attending Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a curriculum of Communication.
 
The HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Exclusive Scholarship was awarded to Logan Blankenship of Teutopolis High School. Blankenship will be attending Kaskaskia College to pursue her degree in Nursing.
 
The recipient of the Siemer Milling Company Exclusive Scholarship is Elizabeth Will of Teutopolis High School. Will plans to attend University of Illinois-Champaign to pursue a degree in Accounting.
 
The recipient of the Vantage Outsourcing Exclusive Scholarship was awarded to Bryson Wall of St. Anthony High School. Wall will be attending University of Illinois to pursue a degree in Engineering.
 
The EffingHAM-JAM Exclusive Scholarship was awarded to Sarah Wright of St. Elmo. Wright attends Eastern Illinois University studying for her MBA.
 
The Chamber Foundation Community Scholarships awarded are funded by area business. The recipients who received these scholarships were Mikayla Blankenship of Teutopolis High School; Jennifer Robards of Dieterich High School and Hannah Tappendorf of Altamont High School. Blankenship will be attending Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville pursuing a degree in Psychology. Robards will be attending Lake Land College pursing a degree in Nursing and Tappendorf will be attending Lake Land College pursuing a degree in Agriculture Education. Adult scholarship recipient Shae Ashley of Dieterich will be attending Eastern Illinois University to pursue a degree in Family Services.
 
All 2019 sponsors of the Chamber Foundation Community Scholarship Program were recognized during the luncheon. In addition to the Exclusive Sponsors, special recognition was given to the Platinum Sponsors, which included BK Resources, Effingham New Car Dealers Association, John Boos & Co., B & L Machine and Koerner Distributor.
 
The Chamber Community Scholarship Program has awarded $198,000 to 161 area residents over the past 22 years. Scholarships are awarded to spouses, employees, and family members of Chamber member companies.
