At long last, a contract is in place between the Effingham Educational Support Professionals Association and the Effingham Unit 40 School District.

The school board approved the contract Tuesday night, a week after a similar vote by members of the Association.

The agreement is for four years, retroactive to cover the previous two school years as well as the coming school year and the following school year, with a June 30, 2021 end date.

There will be a $30 increase per month in the District's portion of health insurance. That means the District will be covering the first $632, $639 or $822 (depending on the tier of insurance chosen) towards a member's monthly health insurance premium.

Each non-certified employee will receive a minimum 55-cent hourly increase in rate of pay for each year of the four-year contract.

Members will receive back pay for the past two school years.

There were also several language items agreed to by both sides. Some areas included meal reimbursement levels, probationary period for new hires, call in pay, and licensing fees.

A release from Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan thanked, on behalf of the District, the EESPA bargaining team and members for their efforts in reaching a final agreement.
