A sprinkler fitting burst in the attic at the Effingham Terrace Group Home on South 3rd Street in Effingham Tuesday afternoon, leading to water in a large part of the facility and resulting in relocation of the residents.

Effingham Assistant Fire Chief Matt Kulesza said the sprinkler fitting was in the attic of the building. The resulting flood of water caused some of the ceiling to come down. Four rooms were "sopping wet" according to Kulesza, including the dining room. There was also water in some of the light fixtures.

No one was injured in the incident. Kulesza said the consumers who live in the facility were informed of the situation and were relocated to suitable facilities.

Firefighters were alerted of the situation when the drop in water pressure triggered the fire alarm.
