Fire destroyed a vacant home near Stewardson early Thursday morning.

Stewardson firefighters were called out just after 2am to the property owned by Jeremy Yakey of Vidalia, Louisiana.  Ed Friese of rural Stewardson manages the farm site on which the house was located, about three miles west of Stewardson and a quarter-mile north of the Mode Road.

The house was fully involved in flames when firefighters reached the scene.  The two-story frame structure had already partially collapsed.  Fire crews worked to about 4:30am to put out the fire.  The entire structure has collapsed into the basement.

Stewardson firefighters are working to determine the cause of the fire.  Stewardson Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
