State Crop Report for Week Ending May 19

There were 2.4 days suitable for fieldwork statewide during the week ending May 19.

Statewide, the average temperature was 63.5 degrees, 0.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.85 inches, 0.16 inches below normal. 

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 44% adequate and 56% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 39% adequate and 61% surplus. 

Corn planted was at 24%, compared to 95% last year and the five-year average of 89%. Corn emerged was at 11%. 

Soybeans planted was at 9%, compared to 79% last year and the five-year average 51%. Soybeans emerged was at 2%.

Winter wheat headed reached 64%, compared to 70% last year and the five-year average of 75%. Winter wheat condition was rated at 8% very poor, 14% poor, 40% fair, 34% good, and 4% excellent.
