Crash on Moccasin Road Friday Evening

Effingham County sheriff's deputies were called at 6:38pm to the crash scene east of 650th Street, just west of Lake Sara. Reports are that a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Damian Gardner of Champaign was westbound when the car ran off the roadway to the north. The car then traveled back across both lanes and ran off the roadway to the south. The car traveled through a fence, continued into a pasture and came to a stop by hitting a pole.

Gardner was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

Gardner was cited for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and improper lane usage.
