Friday, May 3, 2019 is Norma Shoemaker Day in the City of Effingham.

So said Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker in the proclamation he read at the 2019 Employee Appreciation Luncheon, hosted for the 45th year by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.

Norma was recognized for her 50 years of service to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, but also for the care she has provided to literally thousands of babies and their mothers through the years.

Greg Sapp talked with Norma after today's luncheon...

Others nominated for Employee of the Year were another hospital employee, Alyssa Murfin, as well as Clint Antrim of Roy Schmidt Honda, Jody Britton of Wright's Furniture and Flooring, and Adam Mette of Probst Auto Body.

The guest speaker was corporate trainer and magician Chris Egelston, whose presentation involved plenty of audience participation.
