The National Weather Service office in Lincoln is advising as to the possibility of severe weather in the area today.

The Weather Service indicates a slight risk of severe weather across all of central, eastern and southeast Illinois this afternoon through this evening.  The main threat will be strong and damaging winds.  Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.

Heavy rainfall is possible across central, eastern and southeast Illinois late this afternoon through tonight.  Total rainfall amounts of around two inches is possible.

Frozen ground will cause most of the rain to become runoff, causing rapid rises in area creeks, streams and rivers.  All river basins could be affected.
