Effingham Sunrise Rotarians were able to tour the new ADM animal nutrition premix facility and see firsthand how bulk ingredients are mixed and packaged. Plant Manager Steve Allen explained how the 284,000-suare-foot building was once home to Southeastern Container and purchased by ADM in 2016.  ADM is consolidating their three facilities in Effingham to this one location. The new larger facility allows them to continue to grow and meet new and evolving needs. After full startup in late 2018, they are at full capacity of production.

The new facility uses state-of-the-art automation and a barcoding system that identifies every material and ingredient in the plant. After mixing, the premixes are sold to other companies to be used primarily in various pet foods. Their premixes are also used in livestock products. Their products are distributed all over the country and also to Puerto Rico. Larger customers include Purina Feed and Kroger and locally they sell to Mars Petcare and Walk Stock Farm.

Allen indicated that ADM is excited to be staying in Effingham and they are currently looking for more employees.
