Sentences have been imposed in a number of area court cases.

Alma resident Rollie Rozkiewicz has been sentenced to five years in prison following his earlier guilty plea to entering his ex-wife's home and firing a weapon.

The 30-year-old Rozkiewicz pled guilty in February to a Class 1 felony of aggravated discharge of a firearm in an occupied building in exchange for a dismissal of a Class X home invasion charge and a count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Rozkiewicz was arrested in January 2018 following a pursuit with Marion County sheriff's deputies. The deputies were aware of a report from Salem police claiming Rozkiewicz had forced his way into the home in Salem. His estranged wife told police that Rozkiewicz then ran through the house and fired a shot from a rifle before going outside and possibly firing another shot. He left the scene in his pickup truck, but a sheriff's deputy aware of the report headed to his home in Alma and located Rozkiewicz as he was entering Alma.

Salem police reported that the weapon fired at the Salem home was found in the truck and evidence was found inside the Salem home of the shot being fired.

No injuries were reported.

Once out of prison, Rozkiewicz will have to serve two years of mandatory supervised release.

Edgewood resident Kenneth Pontious has been sentenced in Clay County Circuit Court to 42 months in prison for unlawful possession of methamphetamine. The sentence was imposed after Pontious failed to comply with the terms of his probation.

The 35-year-old Pontious pled guilty to possession of meth and was placed on 24 months' probation in February 2018. Last October, Pontious admitted he had violated his probation and was re-sentenced to 30 months' probation. This week in court in Louisville, Pontious admitted he again had violated his probation and this time was given prison time.

Also in Clay County, Donanthony Roberts of Clay City was sentenced to 42 months in prison for possession of methamphetamine.

The charge alleged that the 50-year-old Roberts possessed less than five grams of a substance containing meth last December. Roberts had previously been on probation for methamphetamine manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine precursors. He completed his probation on those charges in 2016.

Roberts this week pleaded guilty to the meth possession charge and received the prison time
