The Illinois EPA said Friday that the release of diesel exhaust fluid to a local creek has been stopped.

Kim Biggs of IEPA said the fuel release was from an underground storage tank at Pilot Truck Stop on Sunday. Pilot acknowledged the release earlier. A sheen was identified on the creek related to the release. An environmental contractor has been on site since Sunday, containing and cleaning up the fuel.

IEPA and the Office of the State Fire Marshal were onsite this week, along with an underground storage tank contractor. The tank systems were pressure tested, and IEPA is awaiting the results of the tests.
