LLC Trustees Contract for Veterans Memorial Project

Lake Land spokesperson Kelly Allee said the college has been working with Adams Memorial of Charleston on the design of what will be a wall to be part of Podesta Park. The Lake Land College Foundation has agreed to fund the project.

The Board certified the results of the student trustee and Sophomore Student Government Association election. 

Shelbie Kile of Marshall, an Ag Transfer major, was chosen the next student trustee. She will succeed Tessa Philpot of St. Elmo, who was recognized by the Board for her year of service.

Three area students were elected to serve as Sophomore Student Government Association members. They are Citlali Hoyos and Kourtney Cordes of Effingham and Mya Garcia of Neoga.

Lake Land trustees also recognized the Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois/All-USA Academic Team nominees. Krista Taylor of Mattoon, Shawn Schaeffer of Charleston and Rhyta Hooks of St. Elmo were nominated from Lake Land for the team, which was recognized for their achievement at a banquet this week in Springfield.

The Lake Land board also presented the annual Business Partnership Award to Heartland Dental of Effingham. More on that honor is forthcoming.
