We told you that work continues to address a fuel leak at the Effingham Pilot Truck Stop on North Route 45.

We reached out to Pilot for information on the incident, and heard Thursday from company spokesperson Stephanie Myers, a supervisor for external communication. Here is the company's statement on the incident:

"The team at the Pilot Travel Center #165 has been working closely with the IEPA this week regarding a fuel leak at the Effingham, IL location. We are focused on cleaning up the spill and monitoring to ensure things remains safe and secure."

We told you earlier that the leak was discovered over the weekend. Some of the fuel made its way into a creek east of the truck stop and traveled as far south as Park Hills Subdivision. Crews have placed devices into the waterway designed to absorb the fuel.
