City Police Release Details on Recent Injury Crashes

Effingham city police Wednesday released information on two recent crashes resulting in injuries.

One crash occurred at 8:17 Saturday morning, east of the intersection of Fayette and Outer Belt West. A vehicle driven by 63-year-old Dale Nelson of Altamont rear-ended a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Thomas Devalk of Mode. 

A passenger in Devalk's vehicle, 52-year-old Kimberly Devalk of Mode, was injured, but declined treatment. 

Nelson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

The other crash occurred on March 30 at Fayette and Maple just before 4pm. A vehicle driven by 16-year-old Madison Vail of Dieterich rear-ended a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Laurie Dasenbrock of Effingham, causing Dasenbrock's vehicle to rear-end a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Courtney Russell of St. Elmo.

Vail was injured, but refused treatment. Russell was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. 

Vail was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
