Effingham County sheriff's deputies investigated a crash just after midnight Tuesday morning in Summit Township.

The call came at 12:01am to US Route 40, a quarter-mile east of Country Club Road. Deputies report a pickup truck driven by 58-year-old Delphin Roketa of Effingham was traveling westbound. Roketa lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway to the right, striking a road sign. The pickup then came back across the highway to the left and struck the north bridge rail. The unit traveled another 500 feet before stopping on the side of the road.

Roketa was injured and was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Roketa was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle.
