Neoga Board Handles Busy Agenda

Neoga school board members addressed a busy agenda at this week's meeting.

The Board heard from elementary principal Denise Helmers, who introduced the Neoga Spirit recipients, Neoga PTO President Doug Jackson, who provided an update on PTO activities, donations and services provided to the schools as well as upcoming events, and from Neoga Booster Club President Stacy Gresens, who provided an update of this year's Booster Club activities, donations to the schools, and upcoming events.

The Board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Stewardson-Strasburg school district to share a school nurse, and approved a senior class trip to French Lick, Indiana. Board members also heard from Athletic Director Mike Taylor on information, including the cost of adding junior high softball as a sport.

Neoga board members purchased a mower from Bahrns Equipment in Effingham; approved a Ne-Co Asphalt proposal to oil and chip the elementary school parking lot; and accepted the bid for south gym bleacher replacement from Irwin Telescopic Seating Company of Altamont.

Board members approved April Banning as a non-paid volunteer musical assistant; approved Christian Kessler as the high school frosh/soph Spring baseball coach; and accepted resignations from Mackenzie Thurston as a first grade teacher, Angela Strohl as a junior high Science teacher, and Joanie Titus as district bookkeeper and treasurer.

Neoga Superintendent Ben Johnson shared information concerning dirt work being done to improve drainage near the track so that it might be usable for practices.
