Effingham City Plan commissioners Tuesday approved a site plan for a new building for HG Development in the city business park.

The two-story 21,000 square foot structure will be built immediately south of the J&J Ventures building on South Raney Street and will be connected to the existing building by a breezeway.

The Plan Commission also recommended the City Council approve a plat of the property to serve as the site for the new building. The property totals close to eight acres along Raney between Mansfield Drive and Commerce Avenue.

The Commission also recommended City Council approval of a vacation of a portion of Henrietta Street, north of Wabash Avenue. Dean Samuel, representing the owners of the parcels, said the lots are currently small in size, so the vacation would enlarge the lots.
