Some progress was perhaps realized at Wednesday night's mediation session between bargainers for the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education and the Effingham Educational Support Professionals.

Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan said, "We did get an issue that's been an impediment taken care of." Doan said the district bargaining team also made another financial offer, and believes that representatives of the Educational Support Professionals are looking through the proposal.

The 130 support staff members in Unit 40 are working under terms of a contract that expired June 30, 2017.
