The one-time boyfriend of a woman murdered in Clark County in 2014 has been transferred back from Indiana after confessing to the crime.

24-year-old Connor W. Scott has been formally charged in Clark County with two counts of first degree murder in the death of Kaylyn Whitaker.

On October 31, 2014, Illinois State Police responded to a rural residence outside Martinsville regarding Whitaker's death. The Clark County Sheriff's Office requested State Police to lead the investigation and Scott was developed as a suspect.

In 2015, the case was referred to the Clark County State's Attorney's Office for prosecution, and in 2018, the court appointed the case to the Appellate Prosecutor's Office. After a review, State Police say the Appellate Prosecutor's Office planned to file charges against Scott.

On Sunday, prior to charges being filed, Scott phone the Danville Metropolitan Police Department in Indiana, and advised he wanted to confess to Whitaker's murder. the Danville Department obtained an initial statement from Scott. Illinois State Police were notified and responded to Danville, Indiana where they conducted a recorded interview with Scott.

Following the interview, Scott was detained at the Hendricks County, Indiana, Jail. On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued for Scott with a $1 million bond. Scott is currently being held in Clark County Jail. He is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday.
