Work on the Jefferson Avenue water main project will resume on Tuesday.

The City has received its IEPA Operating Permit and the contractor will begin moving water services to the new water line on Tuesday. The work will require a short interruption of water service; if all goes well, less than one hour.

In addition, the work will not require a boil order, but will require the interior plumbing at locations to be flushed and purged of air by running faucets, flushing toilets and the like. City Senior Engineering Technician Greg Koester said it is important to have someone available to turn on the sinks and the like.

Most businesses have been given a general notification of the impending work and will be personally notified before the water is shut off. Some businesses need to be contacted to schedule the serving interruption and they will be contacted by City staff on Monday.

The work will require driving lane and parking lane closure on Jefferson Avenue between Front Street and Third Street.
