State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) has announced his House Committee Assignments, which includes a seat
on the House Labor and Commerce Committee, where increased minimum wage legislation came up on Day One.

(ST. REP. BLAINE WILHOUR)

“Probably the most controversial issue in the Legislature was being debated in the very first meeting of the House Labor and Commerce Committee,” Wilhour said. “It seems to me that the minimum wage increase legislation is moving very quickly, and I think this issue is so big and so important to so many people that we should slow this process down and carefully weigh what we are doing. Unfortunately, the Democrat majority is moving full speed ahead and there does not seem to be any interest in making even modest concessions to downstate Illinois. We will see what transpires at the next meeting but there seems to be little interest in compromise.”

Wilhour’s other committee assignments are the House Adoption & Child Welfare Committee; Transportation: Vehicles & Safety Committee; Personnel & Pensions Committee; Personnel Code Subcommittee and the House Judiciary: Criminal Committee.

“I am excited about these committee assignments,” Wilhour said. “Being able to have a voice in shaping transportation, business and pension issues as well as criminal matters is a good opportunity for me to be able to represent the views of the 107th District on some important matters in Springfield. To that end, I encourage anyone with ideas or suggestions or opinions on what is going on Springfield to reach out to me at any time. I look forward to hearing from you.”
