Two local residents were killed in a weather-related crash in Missouri Tuesday night.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the victims were 19-year-old Wendy R. Rios of Altamont and 21-year-old Kaleb A. Huddlestun of Effingham.

The State Patrol reports that Rios and Huddlestun were passengers in a car traveling on an ice-covered stretch of I-70 westbound in north-central Missouri just after 6:30pm. The car skidded into the median, then came back out of the median and onto the highway, directly into the path of a semi driven by 24-year-old Bakhodir Razakberdiev of Brooklyn, New York.

Rios was pronounced dead at the scene just after 7:30pm Tuesday, while Huddlestun was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 12:30am Wednesday.

The car's driver, 20-year-old Samantha D. Rios of Kansas City, Kansas, and another passenger, 19-year-old Ryan M. Kumm of Independence, Missouri, were taken for treatment of what police termed minor injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.

There were no citations issued from the crash.
