A mediation session was held Tuesday evening between bargainers for the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education and the Effingham Educational Support Professionals, but no agreement was reached on a new contract.

Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan said another mediation session was scheduled for Wednesday, February 27.

The District's contract with its 130 support staff members expired June 30, 2017. Support staff employees include secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, maintenance personnel, paraprofessionals, cooks, bus aides, library clerks, mechanics and mechanic assistants, and warehouse workers.
