A California man was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday for being caught with a large quantity of drugs in Fayette County.

32-year-old Raul Perea of Pomona, California pled guilty to unlawful possession of controlled substance on June 28, 2017. After Perea was stopped, State Police found several black vaccuum-sealed bags in his vehicle. Tests determined that the substances in the bags contained heroin.

The drugs had an estimated street value of $455,000.

Two Class X felony counts of drug trafficking were dismissed as part of the guilty plea.
