A Wood River teenager was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning.

19-year-old Nathaniel Eickmann was traveling on I-57 between the Keller Drive and Fayette Avenue interchanges at Effingham when he fell asleep. Eickmann's box truck ran off the roadway to the right, struck a guardrail and a metal pole, and came to rest in the right ditch.

Eickmann was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. He was cited for improper lane usage.

The incident occurred just before 5am.
