Authorities are working to make a positive identification of a person killed in a fiery weekend crash near Lake Sara.

The Effingham County Coroner's Office was called out at 10:30am Sunday to the crash along North Blue Point Trail, south of Moccasin Road.  Authorities say the single vehicle involved in the crash left the road, struck a tree and was destroyed by fire.

One unidentified victim was found in the car.  The victim has tentatively been identified as a local resident, but positive identification is pending the results of an autopsy and further investigation.

An autopsy is set for today.

The investigation continues by the Effingham County Coroner's Office and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department.
