Three people were injured in a weekend crash just outside Flora.

The crash happened at 10:40am Sunday on Old Route 50, just east of Cedar Elm Drive.

State police report vehicles driven by 30-year-old Rylan Flood of Flora and 80-year-old Don Ellis of Xenia met near a curve in the roadway when Flood's vehicle suddenly swerved hard left, crossing the center line, and struck the Ellis vehicle partially head-on. Ellis had to be extricated from his vehicle.

Both drivers were injured, as was Flood's passenger, 38-year-old Johnie Jenkins of Mt. Vernon. All three were taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment.

Flood was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, illegal transportation of liquor and failure to wear a seat belt. Jenkins was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol.
