Dieterich school board members Monday voted to put a 1% sales tax question on the April 2, 2019 ballot.

The revenue from the sales tax could be used for renovation or new construction of district buildings. The Effingham and Teutopolis school boards also voted Monday to put the question on the ballot in their districts.

The Board passed the fiscal year tax levy, which is 9.8% higher than last year, but Superintendent Cary Jackson said an expected increase in the equalized assessed value of property in the school district is expected to decrease the tax rate.

Jackson also reported that the District has still not received any transportation payments from the State for this fiscal year. With the purchase of a new bus this year, Jackson said the fund balance will need monitoring.

The Board renewed District insurance policies at a rate 3.67% higher than the previous year. The Board entered into an agreement with AJD Consulting Services to administer the E-Rate Grant for the District.

Dieterich board members accepted a $15,000 donation from proceeds from the Dieterich Quasquicentennial Celebration earlier this year. The Board approved the purchase of 64 Chromebooks and two mobile carts from the donated funds.

The Dieterich board also accepted an $850 donation from the Christ Church campus in Dieterich for use of school facilities for their weekly services. Congregation member Jeff White was on hand to discuss a facility use request and the future facility needs of the church.

The Board approved a four-day leave of absence for 3rd grade teacher Jodi Mammoser to take place in February.
