More individuals have filed for local offices.

Retired Effingham Police Chief Mike Schutzbach made it official, filing as a candidate for mayor. Schutzbach joins incumbent Jeff Bloemker as candidates on file for mayor.

No additional filings have occurred for Effingham city commissioner beyond the five who filed Monday morning.

There have been additional filings for school boards in the county.

Bradley Waldhoff has filed for a seat on the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education. Waldhoff is the fifth person to file for one of four seats to be filled in the spring election.

Also, Shelly Kuhns has filed for a seat on the Altamont Unit 10 school board to bring the number of Altamont candidates to three.

Jordan Shields has filed for a seat on the Beecher City Unit 20 school board, so two people have filed for election to that board.

Thad Goebel is the first person to file for a seat on the Dieterich Unit 30 school board.

Two people have filed for a seat on the Teutopolis Unit 50 school board; Bradley Koester and Chandler Hewing.

A fourth person has filed for a seat on the Lake Land College Board of Trustees. She is Meg Yargus Steward of Marshall. Steward was appointed to the Board when Dr. Robert Luther resigned shortly before his death. She is serving until the election, where someone will be elected to serve the balance of Luther's term. Steward, though, filed for one of two full six-year terms to be filled. All four candidates are seeking one of the six-year terms; no one has filed for the unexpired term.

As of Tuesday morning, no one had filed for a seat on the Effingham Park Board. There are two seats to be filled.

The filing period runs through Monday, December 17.
