Normal West Basketball Players Out of Hospital After Semi/School Bus Crash

All of the students aboard a bus containing Normal West girls basketball players are now out of the hospital after last night's deadly crash between the bus and a wrong way semi on I-74 near Bloomington. Eight girls were released today.

72-year-old Charlie Crabtree will be honored later this basketball season. Crabtree, who was described as a staple of the Normal West athletic program, was killed in the crash. A former bus driver for the district, Crabtree was a passenger on the bus. The girls basketball jv bus was returning from Champaign.

The driver of the semi, also killed in the crash, is identified as 34-year old Ryan Hute, of Delmar, Iowa. The bus driver is in critical condition and Coach Steve Price is being treated for multiple broken bones.
