It's long been a tradition in the Teutopolis School District to recognize the last child to graduate from a family at the high school commencement ceremony.

There was some discussion at this week's school board meeting, though, to no longer recognize the last child.  There was also discussion over including the high school Honors Night into the high school graduation ceremony.  No action was taken, though.

The Board awarded the work to renovate the high school band room to low bidder Wohltman Construction as general contractor and to DEM Services as abatement contractor.  DEM Services will also to oven asbestos removal at the grade school building.

In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board accepted resignations from Brianne Moeller as high school English teacher and Bob Westjohn as bus driver; hired Jessica Heiden as high school assistant volleyball coach; and employed Laurie Drees and Natasha Rauch as grade school summer school teachers.

The Board approved a Social Media policy; awarded bids for various commodities; placed an amended fiscal year budget on public display until the June meeting; and approved recommended changes in the parent/student handbook, but did not make changes to the high school exam exemption policy.  Board members also increased a teacher's time from one-seventh to three-sevenths for the first semester of the coming year and to two-sevenths for the second semester.
