Driver Struck By Own Vehicle

An Altamont woman was injured when struck by her own vehicle Tuesday night.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report 58-year-old Marsha Kraus was westbound on US Route 40 at 500th Street when her car struck a deer just after 8:30pm. Kraus stopped at the intersection of Whitler Street and Division Avenue on the east edge of Altamont to check her vehicle for damages. Kraus got out of the car and the vehicle rolled backwards, injuring Kraus. The vehicle continue rolling, coming to rest on the south side of Division Avenue.

Kraus was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
