You've seen them in various sporting venues, but how about a videoboard in Effingham High School Gym?

The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Monday gave the Effingham Sportsbackers authorization to acquire the videoboard from Nevco in Greenville. Meanwhile, the Board approved $15,530 for relocating the two wall mounted scoreboards in the gym to accommodate the videoboard and running the electrical work for the videoboard.

The videoboard will be mounted above the exit doors in the southwest part of the gym. The scoreboard now there will be relocated to the southeast corner and the scoreboard now in the northeast corner of the gym will be shifted to the northwest corner.

The videoboard will be compatible with all manner of video, even Netflix. The system can be used for all sports played in the gym and also for speakers at various events held in the gym, such as graduation.

The plan is for the Sportsbackers to purchase the videoboard, and then donate it to Unit 40.

Chris Koester of the Sportsbackers said with the Board's approval Monday, work can begin in time to have the videoboard operational in time for the Effingham/Teutopolis Christmas Classic.
