Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker has announced his intentions to seek re-election in the April 2019 election. Bloemker was elected mayor in April of 2015 and is in the fourth year of his first term.

“I’ve had a lot of encouragement to consider running again,” said Bloemker. “My mentors tell me that the first term is a learning process. The second term is where you really get things done. And I believe that to be true. By now I know where the bones are buried, so to speak. I know which efforts are worth pursuing and those with which not to waste time on.”

Bloemker brought extensive business management experience with him to City Hall in 2015, as well as much civic and community engagement.

“I’m a third generation Effingham resident. Back in 2015 I told you I love this town. And I think I’ve proven that over the past three years. Now I’ll tell you I love being the chief advocate and sales representative for Effingham. Give me four more years and I’ll give you better jobs, housing opportunities, and an energized community,” Bloemker continued.

Bloemker is married to the former Nancy Ludwig and they have three college-age children.
