The Teutopolis Village Board took action on several matters at their recent meeting related to the Farmweld expansion project and the Prairie View Subdivision project.

The Board has scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new subdivision on the village's southeast side. The ceremony will begin at 6pm on Wednesday, October 3, just ahead of the Board's next meeting. Teutopolis State Bank has agreed to place a sign at the subdivision site.

Progress is being made on development of the subdivision; the first two basements have been put in place.

The Board discussed putting stop signs in place in the subdivision; on Golden Rod Avenue, Morning Glory Lane, and on Oak, State and John Streets. Also approved was a $60,000 payment to A.J. Walker Construction for work completed in the subdivision and a close to $16,000 payment to Connor and Connor Engineers for inspection fees on the subdivision street construction project.

As far as the Farmweld expansion project, the Board paid Feutz Contractors of Paris $102,000 for the street construction project, agreed to pay Conner and Conner Engineers $6,481 for engineering design for the street construction project, and discussed just making fund transfers as needed for payments on both projects rather than borrowing money to cover expenses. The Board also took no action on allowing B&E Developers more time to purchase a second lot in the subdivision due to the loss of a contractor because of subdivision construction delays.

Also, the Teutopolis board took no action on the tax levy or the assessment of taxes, but did agree to abate the levy. There was discussion of hiring a fulltime employee for the water and sewer department and are now advertising the position.

The Board also joined the National Road Association at an annual fee of $250, and heard from Todd Wegman of Stevens Industries on the plans for an expansion of their Teutopolis operation and the hope that the work will start quickly.
