Effingham resident Rhiannon Thompson has been sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison for methamphetamine possession.

The 33-year-old Thompson was arrested by county sheriff's deputies in 2014 and was placed on probation, but that probation was later revoked.

In 2016, Thompson was placed on pre-trial diversion, but was judged not to have completed the program in a satisfactory manner.

She pleaded guilty to the meth possession charge in August of this year and was sentenced Monday to the prison time.

Thompson was given credit for having served 163 days until this final disposition of her case.
