Bond for Kayla Juds was set at $7,500 in Marion County Court Friday. The public defender was appointed to represent her.

State’s Attorney Bill Milner told Judge Mark Stedelin that Juds is accused of setting a shirt on fire and placing it behind the dryer in the utility room of her home. The charge states Juds set the fire with intent to defraud an insurer.

Juds and several family members were at the home when Kinmundy-Alma Firemen arrived on the scene during the noon hour on Wednesday and were able to knock down the blaze quickly, confining it to the utility room.

The State Fire Marshals office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
