United Way Announces $315,000 Goal for 2018 Campaign

United Way of Effingham County has boosted its goal for the 2018 campaign.

The organization is seeking $315,000, $10,000 more than last year's goal. 24 agencies will receive funding from the 2018 campaign. 

New to the group of agencies that will receive funds are the Altamont After-School Program and Crisis Nursery of Effingham County. Returning agencies are Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mid-Illinois-Effingham County, Boy Scouts of America-Lincoln Trails Council, Catholic Charities, CEFS Literacy Program, CEFS Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Child Advocacy Center of East Central Illinois, Effingham Child Development Center, Effingham County FISH Human Services, Effingham County Search and Rescue Team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes-Greater Effingham Area, Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, Heartland Human Services, Meals on Wheels of CEFS, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Effingham County, One Hope United, Oneighty, Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies, Senior Services of Effingham County, Strategic Training and Restoration, Stopping Woman Abuse Now, and Unit 40 Mentoring Program.

United Way Board President Marty Watson of Ameren Illinois served as emcee for Tuesday's United Way Kickoff Luncheon, and Campaign Chairman Patrick Kreke of Patterson Technologies shared about the resources for those involving in this year's campaign. Our Greg Sapp spoke with Kreke about the campaign following Tuesday's kickoff event...

Also sharing at the luncheon were Rachel Miller, Jane Summers and Henry Siemer of Siemer Milling Company. Siemer's the lead pacesetter organization for the 2018 campaign. Miller discussed some of the events they have undertaken to increase employee participation and contributions, and also discussed how the Siemer organization has played a part in each year's campaign.
