A Windsor man was fatally injured in a Friday afternoon crash in Shelby County.

State police say 44-year-old Jeremy Voris was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash just after 5pm on Illinois Route 16, a quarter-mile west of Shelby County Road 1400 East.

A pickup truck driven by 28-year-old Joshua W. Loy of Effingham was attempting to pass a pickup truck driven by 37-year-old Kelli J. Moon of Tower Hill, but an oncoming vehicle caused Loy to attempt to move back into the driving lane. Moon couldn't slow in time to avoid hitting Loy's pickup truck. The impact caused Loy's vehicle to run off into a ditch and overturn several times before coming to rest.

Voris was a passenger in Loy's vehicle. Voris was taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County where he was pronounced dead. Loy was injured and was airlifted to an area hospital.

Neither Moon, nor her two young passengers, ages two years old and 15 months old, were injured.

Moon was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
