Single Vehicle Wreck on Interstate Injures Michigan Man

State Police report at 7:18 Friday morning a Freightliner box truck was traveling east bound on I-57/70 at mile post 162 near the Sigel exit when the driver, Emmanuel Chapmen, 23 of Troy Michigan,  stated he fell asleep, left the south side of the roadway struck the guardrail, crossed the center lanes of traffic and left the north side of the roadway, struck the concrete median barrier and came to a rest in the middle lane of traffic. 

A passenger, Michael Howd, 36 of Flint Michigan, was injured and taken to HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Chapmen was charged with improper lane usage, driving a commercial vehicle while fatigued, possession of cannabis while in a commercial vehicle, DUI drugs and possession of cannabis.
