One person was injured when a truck struck a semi outside Vandalia.

The crash occurred at 6:02pm Monday on I-70 at the west interchange at Vandalia. State police say a truck driven by 45-year-old Benjamin Ray of Vandalia was eastbound when Ray was distracted by something outside the vehicle and didn't see a semi driven by 42-year-old Jeremy Dutton of Washington, Arkansas, stopped near the top of the interchange ramp.

The truck struck the semi, injuring Ray, who was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Ray was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
