The Salem Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man who attempted to get a 15-year-old girl into his truck in the area of Bryan Memorial Park near the Dog Park just south of Salem Township Hospital.

The alleged victim was out for a run in the park around ten Sunday night when the white male suspect drove past her. After passing the teen, who was running north towards the hospital, the suspect turned around at an unknown location and began traveling to the north behind the victim.

The male driver asked the victim to get into his truck but the victim refused. Police say the male then opened the driver’s door and grabbed the victim by the arm and attempted to pull her into the truck.

The victim was able to break free and run to the hospital for assistance. The victim believed the suspect turned around in the dog park and traveled in the opposite direction of the victim.

The suspect was described by the victim to be: older skinny male 50-60s, with grey/white beard, white t-shirt and jeans, driving a dark red truck, possibly a Ford. The truck is believed to be a full-size pickup.

The Salem Police Department is asking the public’s assistance with any information that might lead to the identification of the suspect. Information can be directed to the Salem Police Department at 618-548-2232.
