A Coles County criminal case has gone to Federal court.

The East Central Illinois Drug Task Force, the Mattoon Police Department and the Coles County Crisis Response Team arrested 29-year-old Daniel Cook of Mattoon in March on drug and gun charges. Cook was arrested on counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, armed violence, drug trafficking, defacing the ID of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a FOID.

(DANIEL COOK)

Also arrested on those charges was 29-year-old Crystal Cobb of Mattoon.

The charges allege that during the search in March of the couple's home in the 1400 block of Wabash Avenue in Mattoon, police located almost three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine, along with digital scales, drug ledgers and packaging materials, as well as two handguns, one with a defaced serial number. The charges also allege the pair have been importing up to a pound of meth for distribution every month for the past year.

Cook has now been indicted by the US Attorney for the Central District of Illinois on those charges, so his case will be handled by the US Attorney's Office in Urbana.

Cobb's case will remain in Coles County Circuit Court.
