Dieterich school board members had the opportunity Monday to celebrate the success of Riley Baxter.

Riley is a 13-year-old student in the Dieterich district. She also has just returned from the Special Olympics USA Games, where she competed in four events, earning a silver medal and a bronze medal.

Riley's dad, Doug, is a Dieterich board member, and shared about Riley's experiences and the Welcome Home parade staged for her Sunday in Dieterich.

Also Monday, the Dieterich board chose Dieterich Bank as the primary depository for District funds for the new fiscal year; entered into an agreement with Mose, Yockey, Brown and Kull for audit services; adopted the latest school board policy updates; and hired Hope Watts as district Music teacher for the new school year.

The Board heard from Sharon White of Christ's Church on their use of school facilities to hold their weekly services. After discussion, the Board agreed to continue allowing the facility use request and will re-visit the issue in November.

An update was provided regarding the baseball and softball infield projects. Both infields will be renovated at the end of July with the assistance of Advanced Turf Solutions. The project is a combined effort of the school district, sportsbackers, park district and village.
