Wednesday's Activities for the 4th

There will be plenty for everyone as far as activities on Wednesday, the 4th of July.

In Effingham, Effingham Noon Rotary Club will sponsor fireworks at the Effingham High School sports complex. The fireworks should begin at 9:15pm. Other activities will be headquartered at the Effingham Event Center where two bands will perform starting at 5:30pm, "Flood" and "Old Crows, Young Cardinals". Food service will begin at 5pm. There will be free seating in the Klosterman Field football bleachers for the fireworks show.

Earlier, the FACE Orchestra will perform at 2pm in the Ron Diehl Center at Hendelmeyer Park.

Dieterich will be the scene of a full day of activities, including fireworks about 9:15pm and their annual parade at 11am. See the full day list of activities elsewhere on the local news page.

Herrick will have a big day, too. Here's the list of events:

--Boy Scouts breakfast at 6am

--Parade lineup at 8am at the Cowden-Herrick Elementary School with the parade stepping off at 10am

--Carnival rides from 11 am to 10pm

--Three bands; Van Waylon Band at 11am, The Fabulous HoeDads at 3pm, and Jac Freeze at 7pm

--Drawing for prizes at 9pm

--Fireworks at dusk

All day activities are also scheduled in Farina.

--Food stands and a beer garden at noon

--Parade registration at 2pm, with the parade to step off at 3pm

--3:45pm--Southern Illinois Elite Tumble and Cheer

--Inflatables, pony rides, kids games and Bingo at 4pm

--Cake walk at 5pm

--Music by "Firebox" at 5:15pm, and "Matt Poss Band" at 7pm

--Drawing at 9:15pm

--Fireworks at 9:30pm, then more music from Matt Poss Band
