A 16-year-old from Effingham was injured in a crash early Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported to Effingham City Police at 4:01am. Assistant Police Chief Danny Lake said the crash happened on Pembroke Avenue, north of Willow Street. Lake said the youth's car ran off the street and rolled over.

Effingham firefighters were called to help extricate the boy from the vehicle. Lake said the youth was initially taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then was airlifted for additional treatment. He said the boy was the only person in the vehicle.

Lake said the crash is still under investigation.
