The Effingham City Plan Commission Tuesday approved a site plan for a McAlister's Deli location.

The restaurant will be located in the former Lone Star Steakhouse location on Hampton Drive, next to the City Tourism Office.

McAlister's Deli specializes in salads, sandwiches and baked potatoes. They originated in Oxford, Missisippi in 1989 and have more than 400 locations in 28 states. They plan to open later this year.

The Plan Commission also approved a site plan of an Effingham Railroad locomotive garage. The garage will be located on the southeast corner of Pike Avenue and Raney Street in the City Business Park.

The Commission approved a site plan for a close to 5,000 square foot office for Heartland Dental. The office is now located in Heartland's corporate office in Network Centre High Tech Park. The new office building will be located on the northwest corner of Keller Drive and Outer Belt West.

Commission members also approved a site plan for an expansion of Sports Design and Graphics. The 5200 square foot building will be added to the west of the existing building along Maple Street with paved parking to be added south of the new building.
