An employee inside the office of Speaker of House says she was the victim of continued harassing behavior by members of the chamber and Madigan’s Chief of Staff.

Sherri Garrett has accused Tim Mapes, the Chief of Staff and the Executive Director of the Democratic Party, of making inappropriate comments to and around Garrett and dismissing bad behavior from former State Rep. Ken Dunkin.

In a statement released Madigan says that at his direction Mapes has resigned from his positions inside his office and in the Democratic Party.

Garrett issued a statement Wednesday after Madigan announced he had accepted Timothy Mapes' resignation. She says, "I am hopeful that more individuals will now feel safe coming forward, knowing that their words can make a difference and force change."

Madigan says his office previously handled the comments made by Dunkin but were unaware of the alleged complaints made by Garrett.
