The 2018 Effingham County Fair was the topic at the Effingham Noon Rotary Club meeting June 6.

Fair Board President Phil Hartke and Fair Queen Maria Lueken were the guest speakers. Hartke shared about the fair's July 28-August 4 schedule. This year's fair theme is "Sew It, Grow It, Show It". This year's fair will feature a performance by country music singing star Travis Tritt; six days of horse racing including five days of harness races; tractor and truck pulling three nights; the queen pageant; a rodeo performance; judging in various events; performances on the free stage; inflatables and carnival rides; and a variety of food items along the midway.

Queen Maria reviewed her reign including her being selected in the Top 15 among the more than 70 county fair queens in Illinois.

Julie Stephens served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
